Our preference is to exhibit
our horses at shows affiliated with The National Walking Horse Association, an organization founded to promote the sound Tennessee
walking horse. It offers a level playing field for all exhibitors, as all horses are closely inspected for compliance
with the Horse Protection Act.

We
are so proud of Julia Swyden, our youth rider, who exhibited outstanding horsemanship throughout the 2009 show season.
Here she is pictured with Hill's Secret Weapon, Dub Ivins, John and Lynda Hagen, and Jack and Marsha Brown at the Moonwalker
Memorial Horse Show in Marshall, Texas. She had just been presented with the Red River Challenge Youth trophy for 2009.
She rode horses for all of these owners throughout the season and did an excellent job with all of them. We wish to
congratulate Julia and expect to see her riding to victory in the years to come.
DUB IVINS TEXAS RAILS AWARD CONGRATULATIONS TO HOWARD HELTON FOR HIS SECOND CONSECUTIVE WIN
We are pleased to congratulate Howard Helton of The Colony, Texas, as he once again finishes above other Texas exhibitors to earn
the Texas Rails Award. Howard is the amateur trainer for his extended family, Jim and Joan Niece, owners of Fox Meadows
Farm. Howard (Skip) and wife, Diana, moved to Texas in 2000, and that is when he became acquainted with the Tennessee
walking horse. This was a relationship that was destined for glory. Prior to meeting the TW, Skip was a Quarter
Horse man, and even did a stint in the rodeo. Beginning in February, Skip and Diana start making the 2 hour drive to Fox Meadow
on Friday mornings. Skip rides on Friday and Saturday, then they head back home near Dallas. He follows this routine
as he readies the horses for show season. This system has worked well, as Skip has earned the Dub Ivins' Texas Rails
trophy for two consecutive years. We thank Fox Meadow Farms and Skip Helton for their hard work and support of the sound
Tennessee walking horse circuit in Texas.
Any member of NWHA can compete for the Dub Ivins Texas Rails Award.
Points are accumulated at the Moonwalker Memorial horse show in Athens, Texas, the Four States Gaited Classic, and the Gaited
Gala in Athens, Texas. English rail classes in trail pleasure, lite shod, and plantation pleasure, qualify for Texas
Rails points. Exhibitors can register for the award when they submit their show entries. The presentation to the
winner is made at the Gaited Gala, June 2011.

Terri
and her mountain horse, Choco, try their hand in the show ring. They did well together before Terry's service to our
country took them out of state. They have moved twice in two years, and we look forward to their return to hallowed
soil.
ON CLOUD NINE, is what we were with the performances of Hills' Secret Weapon and
I'm On Furlough at the 2008 National Championship Horse Show in Murfreesboro, TN. Secret brought home 2 National Grand
Championships along with numerous blues and other ribbons. He brought a ribbon out of the gait each time he entered
a class. This is no small feat at The National, where people bring the best of the best to compete. I'm On Furlough,
at his first National, presented his owners with a blue ribbon in his very first class. He went on to win more ribbons
until his playfulness caused him to pull a muscle and he sat out the rest of the show. Hmmm, have to wonder if he planned
it that way.
